Health & Safety Policy

Canary Fire Stopping Ltd is a passive fire protection company based in London. It undertakes passive fire protection projects for public and private clients across London and surrounding areas of London. The work involves installing fire protection for compartmentation.


The aim of the Company is that all workplaces shall be accident and incident free. The Company recognises its obligations to ensure the health and safety of all employees, its subcontractors, clients, members of the public and all who come into contact with the Company’s activities. 


The legal obligations are set out primarily in the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and also The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and any other associated legislation. 


The Company has implemented a Health and Safety Management System which sets out the Company organisation, individual responsibilities and the arrangements and procedures which ensure legal compliance and satisfies the requirements of ISO 18001:2007. 


This policy statement demonstrates the Company’s commitment to the prevention of injury and ill-health and the continual improvement along with setting targets and objectives. This Policy applies to all employees who are required to work in a safe manner so that they do not endanger themselves, their colleagues or any other person affected by the work and they do not place plant, equipment or property at risk.


The Policy will be communicated to all employees so that they are aware of their individual responsibilities. Appropriate training is provided by the Company. Arrangements are in place so that employees and management consult on health and safety matters.
 

Health and Safety performance is monitored monthly. The Policy is reviewed annually and also following significant changes to the business.
 

The Policy is available to interested parties on request, and is delegated to the Health & Safety Director for implementation.

Modern Slavery Policy

Overview and how we define Modern Slavery

 

  • Slavery, child labour and human trafficking are serious crimes and a violation of fundamental human rights. There are various forms of this ‘Modern Slavery’ which deprives victims of their liberty and usually involves financial exploitation.

  • At Canary Fire Stopping Ltd we conduct our business fairly, ethically and with respect to fundamental human rights. We are fully committed to the prevention of all forms of slavery, forced labour or servitude, child labour and human-trafficking, both in our business and in our supply chains. We will not tolerate it.

  •  

  • This policy does not form part of a contract of employment, and we reserve the right to amend this policy at any time.

  • You are required to read and comply with this policy if you work for, or on behalf of the Company in any capacity including as: an employee, director, officer, worker, consultant, volunteer, supplier or service provider.

  • The Company’s Anti-Slavery Officer, Daniel Bent (Director) is responsible for this policy.

  • Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal, or termination of the contract between you and the Company. It could also involve other legal steps being taken against you. 

 

Preventing slavery and human-trafficking in our business

 

  • The Company makes appropriate checks on all employees, recruitment agencies and suppliers, to know who is working for, or on behalf of us.

  • The Company provides every employee with a written contract of employment. We pay every employee in accordance with the law. We comply with our legal obligations to ensure the health and safety of all of our employees and workers, including in relation to working hours, rest breaks and holidays.

 

If you are one of our Suppliers

 

  • If you supply the Company with goods or services, you must assess your business and supply chains and confirm to us that you comply with your legal obligations, in relation to Modern Slavery, and are committed to ensuring there is no slavery, forced labour or servitude, child labour or human trafficking taking place in your business, or any of your supply chains.   

  • If you breach this policy, or are found to have slavery or human-trafficking in your business, or knowingly in your supply chain, the Company may terminate the contract with you and pursue its legal remedies against you.

 

If you are an Employee or Worker providing services for us

 

  • You must immediately report any suspicions of Modern Slavery or human-trafficking in our business or supply chains to our Director. Our Director will investigate and will take action, within a reasonable time.

  • You will not suffer any detrimental treatment as a result of reporting any genuine concerns, raised in good faith, under this policy. This applies, even if after investigation, they are found to be mistaken.  If you believe that you have suffered any such treatment, you should immediately inform our Director.
